A real fall swell is lining up for Monday morning, and it is the first chest-high window we have had in weeks.

MONDAY DAWN PATROL: NNE swell at about 3.5 feet at 12 seconds hits the Miami Beach sandbars around daybreak. Expect waist-to-chest sets at 21st Street with the best shape early, before the wind comes up late morning. Water is 84 degrees - trunk weather.

THE REST OF THE WEEK: the swell fades through Tuesday, then we are back to the usual knee-to-waist windchop. Long-period energy like this is rare on our coast, so Monday is the day to call in late.

TROPICS: Fay has weakened to a depression in the central Atlantic and is expected to dissipate by midweek. No threat to Florida. One other area way out in the Atlantic has low odds of developing over the next 7 days. Nothing on the board for us.
